What is Cyber Crime ?
Cyber crime refers to any illegal activity carried out using computers, mobile phones, the internet, or digital platforms. These crimes target individuals, businesses, and even government systems. With the rise of online banking, UPI payments, social media, and digital investments, cyber crimes have increased rapidly in Noida and across India.
Cyber crime is punishable under the Information Technology Act, 2000, and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Why Bank Accounts Go on Lien, Hold, or Freeze in Cyber Crime Cases
Bank accounts are often frozen when they are linked directly or indirectly to a cyber fraud transaction. Even innocent account holders can face this issue.
Common reasons include
Receiving money from a fraudulent source
UPI or P2P crypto transaction linked to fraud
Being part of a transaction chain (Layer cases)
Suspicious or high-value transactions
Complaint registered on the National Cyber Crime Portal
Understanding Layer 1 to Layer 5 in Cyber Crime
Layer 1 – Account directly received fraud money from victim
Layer 2 – Money transferred from Layer 1 account
Layer 3 – Further transfer from Layer 2
Layer 4 – Multiple routing accounts
Layer 5 – End receiver with no direct contact with victim
Even Layer 4 or Layer 5 account holders may face lien or freeze until investigation is complete.
What To Do If Your Bank Account Is Frozen
Inform your bank branch immediately
Collect freeze or lien details from the bank
Obtain complaint acknowledgment number
Contact the concerned cyber crime police station
Submit documents proving genuine transactions
Apply for NOC from cyber cell
